Stop That Annoying Noise!
My name is Jason. Let me share the story of how I started ChimeStopper…
I was living near Baltimore and working in Ocean City, Maryland. I commuted two hours each way, and had to carry two large toolboxes in the passenger seat down and back every single day.
The problem with this was my passenger seat was unable to be buckled, so the seat belt alarm would keep chiming for the whole ride down.
Needless to say, I couldn’t put up with this noise! After a few weeks I decided I would try to make a device to hook into the passenger seat buckle. I traced the buckle and cut out a bucket lid in an attempt to stop the chime.
After a few attempts, I finally made one that worked. This got me to thinking, “I’m sure there are other people out there who could use something like this—I can’t be the only one.”
This became my new project, and I began going to dealerships around the area every Saturday, sitting in every single make and model of car I could find, and tracing every buckle into my notebook.
After months of work, I had compiled a book of over 100 different sizes of seat belt buckles for every make and model imaginable.
From there I worked on making the universal buckle, which is known as the ChimeStopper today. This device is patented and made 100% in the USA.
